Job Overview

We are hiring an Associate Technical Support Engineer to join a dynamic global telecom technology team in Gurugram. This role is ideal for candidates who have a strong foundation in optical networking, DWDM, OTN, and fiber optic communication systems and are looking to build a long-term career in technical support within the telecommunications industry.

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering 24x7 remote technical assistance to customers, troubleshooting network-related issues, and ensuring high service quality standards. This role may require working in rotational shifts, including weekends and non-standard business hours, to maintain continuous global support coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver remote technical support via phone and online tools to global customers.

• Diagnose and resolve faults related to DWDM and OTN technologies.

• Analyze alarm structures and network alerts to quickly identify root causes.

• Use debugging tools, lab simulations, and research methods to investigate technical issues.

• Escalate complex cases to advanced support teams with proper documentation.

• Provide on-site customer support when required

• Maintain detailed case records and contribute to internal knowledge management systems.

• Travel to customer locations or company offices globally if needed.

• Ensure customer satisfaction through timely issue resolution and professional communication.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.

• Strong understanding of SONET/SDH transmission systems.

• Solid knowledge of DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) and OTN (Optical Transport Network).

• Familiarity with Carrier Ethernet enterprise equipment.

• Understanding of fiber optic transport systems and switching technologies.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

• Good verbal and written communication skills for global customer interaction.

• Strong analytical thinking and troubleshooting capability.

• Basic knowledge of the telecommunications industry and networking concepts.

• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

• Willingness to work flexible shifts as part of a 24x7 support model.

• Experience with optical networking platforms such as 6500, RLS, or Wave Server will be considered an advantage.

Work Environment

This position follows a hybrid working model. Candidates located within commuting distance of the Gurugram office will be expected to work from the office approximately 60% to 80% of the time, based on business requirements. Flexibility may be provided depending on individual situations and operational needs.
